Hi, I'm Erica, the owner of Calyx Counseling
I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CAADC) in Pennsylvania.
I’ve spent more than a decade working in mental health and addiction treatment, helping people navigate some of the more complicated parts of being human.
I believe therapy should be a place where you can be yourself, ask questions, and explore what’s going on in your life without feeling judged.
You don’t have to have everything figured out before you start. Sometimes understanding yourself is where the work begins.
My Background
I graduated from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2012 and have spent my career working in mental health and addiction treatment. My experience includes inpatient and outpatient care, addiction recovery, and working with people navigating trauma, emotional difficulties, and complicated life circumstances. I also bring my own lived experience with disability into my work. Living with a disability has shaped how I understand accessibility, independence, identity, relationships, and the ways our environment can affect our mental health. It has given me a personal perspective on the challenges of navigating systems that don’t always accommodate individual needs. My clinical experience and lived experience inform how I approach therapy, while recognizing that everyone’s circumstances and experiences are different. I believe people are much more than their symptoms, diagnoses, or the circumstances that bring them to therapy.
Beyond the office
I’m a creative person, an artist, and someone who has always been curious about how people think, feel, and make sense of the world.
I enjoy painting, exploring tarot as a tool for reflection, and finding connections between psychology, creativity, and personal growth.
I’m interested in the ways people develop their identities, understand their experiences, and figure out what matters to them.
That curiosity extends beyond my work as a therapist. I enjoy learning, creating, and exploring different perspectives, and I believe there’s always more to understand about ourselves and the world around us.
